Proceedings kick off with 'A Study in Pink' - an excellent 90-minute origin story wrapped in a rather uninspired mystery that fails to. Featuring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as John Watson, they seemed to perform superbly and fit into their roles. Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson. I would recommend his books to anyone who enjoys mystery and adventure and any budding sleuths. Sherlock started its premiere season with three pretty good episodes. However, while it was a success with the audience, it was also heavily criticized during its final seasons. Robert Viglasky/BBC/Hartswood Filmas/Courtesy. Doyle writes that they were sparring and the problems faced had been numerous and difficult, but doesn't go into details. Sherlock was praised for its stories and the performances of its main cast, especially the casting of Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock himself. The Holmes of BBC/Masterpiece's Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, uses a mnemonic device straight out of ancient Greecethe mind palace. However, I would have liked to know more about what went on between Holmes and Moriarty. And with others like a lost hat leading to the case of a stolen jewel, every story of both Holmes' triumphs and failures was highly entertaining. I liked the range of problems: from the oddly eccentric, with a society for men with bright red hair to the boringly mundane that turned out to be something much more malicious. I fancy myself better at reaching the correct conclusion than Dr Watson is, although I am nowhere near as observant as Holmes. I loved the Sherlock Holmes books and really enjoyed following the various mysteries that Watson and Holmes dealt with through the years.
